July in Armenia is a vibrant month packed with adventure, colors, and rich flavors. If you are planning your summer itinerary or looking to experience the country’s authentic local culture, these incredible events are an absolute must.

Mark your calendars for the hottest spots this July and get ready for an unforgettable journey!

1. Vardavar (Water Festival)

  • Date. July 12 (Fixed date)

  • Location. Nationwide (The most high-energy hubs are Republic Square and Swan Lake in Yerevan, and the area surrounding the Garni Pagan Temple)

  • What it’s about. Although deeply rooted in ancient traditions, Vardavar has evolved into a massive, world-renowned travel phenomenon. Expect epic, city-wide water fights, upbeat music, traditional folk dances, and pure adrenaline. It is, without a doubt, the ultimate way to cool off from the July heat and dive straight into local celebrations.

2. Golden Apricot International Film Festival

  • Date. Second week of July (Tentatively July 12 - 19)

  • Location. Yerevan (Various cinemas and vibrant open-air venues)

  • What it’s about. As Armenia's premier cultural event, this festival draws international film stars, renowned directors, and cinema enthusiasts to Yerevan. Throughout the week, the city screens the finest local and international films, hosts elite masterclasses, exclusive premieres, and inspiring creative panel discussions.

3. Watermelon Festival

  • Date. Second half of July (Exact date to be announced by the organizers)

  • Location. Swan Lake, Yerevan

  • What it’s about. One of the sweetest and most refreshing highlights of the summer! The area around Swan Lake transforms into a massive celebration dedicated entirely to watermelons. Visitors can enjoy complimentary tastings, marvel at stunning fruit carving displays by professional artists, join interactive games, and dance to lively DJ sets.

4. Sevan Honey and Berry Festival

  • Date. Second half of July (Traditionally held over a weekend)

  • Location. Sevan, Gegharkunik Province

  • What it’s about. A wonderful opportunity to combine the refreshing breeze of Lake Sevan with authentic gastro-tourism. Here, you can sample and purchase pure, eco-friendly local honey, fresh wild berries, and unique traditional sweets. The festival is beautifully accompanied by an artisan craft fair and lively folk music and dance performances.

5. Yerevan Color Run

  • Date. End of July (Exact date to be announced by the organizers)

  • Location. Yerevan

  • What it’s about. A high-energy fusion of sports, healthy living, and vibrant fun. Participants run a short distance while being showered with harmless, colorful organic powders at every turn. By the finish line, everyone transforms into a walking rainbow, leading straight into a massive, high-octane open-air music party.
