Thursday: Tour in Yerevan. You will get a first impression of our capital Yerevan, which is older than Rome. You will see the Northern Avenue, Swan Lake and the building of the Opera and Ballet Theater after Spendiaryan, see the Vernissage paintings around the Saryan monument. Then you will go to the Cascade - an architectural complex with sculptures of modern masters from around the world. Visit the museum ''Erebuni''. The Museum of the History of of Yerevan City Foundation was built in 1968 at the foot of Arin-Berd Hill, on top of which was the Urartian Citadel Erebuni, the ancient capital of Armenia. This is the earliest and largest urban settlement of the Urartian kingdom, one of the powerful slaveholding states of the Ancient East, which was the most important military stronghold, as well, the  administrative and economic center of the country. Also a trip to the carpet factory "Megerian Carpet". The production of unique hand-made carpets in Yerevan started in 2002. Sunday:  Khor Virap - ''Cave of Birds'' - Areni The tour starts at 10:00. On this day we will go to the origins of Christianity - to the monastery of Khor Virap, which stores the history of the spread of Christianity in Armenia: according to legend, Grigor the Illuminator languished here in a deep pit, teeming with snakes for 14 years. The name of the monastery is translated: "deep pit". This monastery was built on the site of the ancient capital of Armenia, Artashat, the oldest building was erected in 642, this is the chapel of St. Grigor The complex also includes the Church of the Holy Mother of God, which was built later. A magnificent picture opens from the walls of Khor Virap fortress - Mount Ararat, the symbol of the country of Nairi, proudly pours out. Next stop at the ancient cave "CAVE OF BIRDS". It is located 12 kilometers from Yeghegnadzor on the left side of the Areni River. The cave consists of 3 rooms and has an area of ​​500 m², most of which have not yet been studied. As a result of excavations in the cave, metal knives, fruit seeds, the remains of grain, ropes, ceramics, clothing, raisins and prunes dating to 4200-3500 BC were found. Here was found the world's oldest leather shoes, which are more than 5500 years old, a woman's skirt attributed to 3900 BC, as well as the oldest winery in the world. Currently, this winery is considered the oldest in the world and dates from the 4th millennium BC. The caves were not residential, and the consumption of wine for people was a ritual. Further excursion to the Areni winery. Areni village is located in Vayots Dzor region. It is famous for various types of wines, the production of which has reached very large sizes today. Here you can visit some historical monuments, including the Church of the Holy Virgin and, of course, try the famous wine "Areni". Return to Yerevan.
