Walking in Yerevan: City Tour
6 hours

Let’s get acquainted with  Yerevan!

Welcome to the most beautiful, most hospitable,

the ancient   but with a young  soul  city!

We start our tour from  Republic Square, the heart of our city.

Republic Square is a large square surrounded by beautiful buildings, built of pink tuff stone. You will see  an  architectural ensemble designed  by Tamanyan. This ensemble includes the Government House, the History Museum and the National Gallery, Armenia Marriott Hotel , the ministries of Foreign Affairs and Transport and Communications as well as  magnificent fountains. After walking on the   Square we’ll  go along  the North Avenue.  The North  Avenue connects  Republic Square to Freedom Square, where  the building of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre after Spendiaryan, one of  Tamanyan’s architectural  masterpieces stands.  The North  Avenue is built up with luxury brand shops, elite residential buildings, cafes and restaurants. A perfect   place for shopping and having a good time!

After strolling along the  North Avenue, we are coming  to Freedom  Square near  the Swan Lake. This is one of beloved  places of Yerevan residents  and guests.

Then the tour continues to the Cascade and Gafesjian Museum of Art. The Cascade is an architectural complex with sculptures of contemporary sculptors , flower beds and fountains. After admiring Tamanyan’s  another great project  we go inside the Cascade and go up the escalator to the top of the complex. Here,  the observation deck offers a magnificent view over  whole Yerevan.

Take photos of our ancient city!

We will continue our tour to the statue of Mother Armenia, which is located in Victory Park.

On the way to the next  point of our exciting tour you will see modern buildings, wide streets, green parks and squares. We arrive in Erebuni district, where on the station square you will see one of the main symbols of the city - a monument to David of Sasun , the legendary hero of the Armenian national epic of the XIII century Sasna Tsrer Sasuntsi David. The monument was created in 1959 by renowned Armenian sculptor Yervand Kochar and architect Mikael Mazmanian.

The last point of our city tour is  the Historical Archaeological Museum - Fortress of Erebuni, where 2- millennium history of Yerevan began! In 1879, a large stone covered with Urartian cuneiform was found on Arin-Berd. The inscription said  that in 782  BC the king of Urartu Argishti I ordered  to build a fortress. And this fortress was called Erebuni. So  archaeological excavations have revealed the mysterious history of  Yerevan to  the world.

More  ancient than Rome, but modern Yerevan is waiting for you!
