UNESCO sites



1. Geghard Monastery is a medieval monastery located in the Kotayk region of Armenia, surrounded by rocks and partially carved from the adjacent mountains. The monastery is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

2. Monasteries of Haghpat and Sanahin - Sanahin - a monument of Armenian architecture, a church complex of the X — XIII centuries. The name in Armenian means "this one is older than that'' and emphasizes the advantage of the monastery over the brother in Haghpat (976 AD). Haghpat is famous for the fact that there lived the recluse ashug Sayat-Nova (1722-1795).

3. The Cathedral and churches of Echmiadzin are outstanding monuments of Armenian church architecture.

4. Archaeological site Zvartnots - Ruins of the Temple of the Vigil of Birds (643-652 gg.)

5. Khachkar - “Khachkars” - cross stones - monuments are a symbol of culture and are not found in any other country in the world. The word "khachkar" is formed by two Armenian words: "khach" - a cross and "kar" - a stone.

6. Duduk - Armenian national musical wind instrument. Duduk is an apricot wood tube with nine game holes and a double cane.

7. Lavash - Armenian bread for Armenians has a sacred meaning and symbolizes well-being, luck, abundance, prosperity.
